Introducing Roseville Chiropractor Dr. Elizabeth Berg

Headaches had become a daily routine for me by age 14. Some were so debilitating that all I could do was lie in a dark room and cry. My mom brought me to many practitioners including a medical doctor and physical therapist on what seemed like an unending quest for the cure. The medical doctor prescribed pain relievers and anti-depressants that only made me feel worse, and physical therapy provided only temporary, mild relief. After a year of the medical model treatments, my health only worsened, and I began having severe stomach pain as well, and a whole new spectrum of medications with that.

It was at this point that my mom decided to try a different route to benefit my health. She had seen a chiropractor after a car accident several years prior with great success, and thought that their treatment and advice could help. It did, even my stomach pain resolved! It took a few months to get my health back on track, but that was not a concern as I these symptoms had been occurring for so long. My chiropractor used therapies and adjustments to reduce my pain and headaches, and these treatments relieved pressure on the nerves that traveled to my stomach, relieving my stomach symptoms as well. He also educated me and gave me home recommendations on my condition so that I was once again in control of my own health.

From a very young age, I always wanted to help others and become a medical doctor. After my experience with medical interventions for my headaches and stomach problems, I realized there was a different way to obtain health, naturally! I understand the importance of medical interventions and their place in our system, but I also believe that we should start with the least invasive, most natural intervention possible for all conditions, first, and for me that was chiropractic, nutritional supplements, exercise and acupuncture. I am so grateful that I was able to realize this before resorting to surgeries or more invasive procedures.

By the age of 16, I knew I wanted to be a chiropractor, and help others the way chiropractic had helped me. I began working in a chiropractic clinic performing therapies and massage for patients like myself, that wanted to obtain health naturally. I was able to accelerate my education process by attending the University of St. Thomas while still in high school, and later earn my Bachelor of Science in Human Biology simultaneous to my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN. It was during my time of rigorous training in chiropractic school that I learned the importance of wellness care. I began getting treated on a regular basis- typically every other week, and I learned how much better I could feel through regular chiropractic care. I did not get as many colds as I used to, despite an increase in my the stress of the doctoral program, and I just felt I performed better and that my workouts felt less strained. It was an eye-opening beneficial experience, and is why today, I recommend a similar path to wellness for my patients.

My mission is to help patients obtain their health goals, naturally. I've treated patients younger than 1 year, and patients nearing their 90's, all with the goal of health in mind. I offer relief care and wellness care including therapies, massage, acupuncture, nutritional recommendations and supplements, lifestyle modification, and exercise rehabilitation. I feel most satisfied when patients are able to obtain relief and manage their health care through wellness prevention care. I give my patients information regarding the options that are available to them and let them decide. The word "doctor" initially meant teacher, and that is my desire, to teach you about your health so you can make the decision that fits your needs best. Most people comment on how refreshing it is visiting our office, as it is comfortable and doesn't remind them of the typical doctor's office. Healthcare shouldn't feel sterile and cold, you should always feel welcome and comfortable, because that is the best environment for healing to flourish.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Peter, since 2004. Together we enjoy taking walks on the trails near our home in Roseville and playing with our cat, Buddy. He is a never-ending source of entertainment for us. I also enjoy making bridal jewelry for friends and family and spending time with family on the family farm in the Milaca area. We hope to someday grow our family when the time is right!

My health is important to me and it is something I don't cut corners on. I receive chiropractic care every other week to maintain the highest level of function that is possible. I also try to follow a work out schedule including aerobic and resistance training, and eat a healthy diet with the exception of chocolate, because I know there is more to health than just feeling good, it is knowing that I am healthy. My husband gets treated on a similar schedule and he loves being married to a chiropractor.

Dr. Berg Asks some important questions of interest to Roseville residents - Chiropractor Roseville Dr. Berg Asks...

Why do so many drugs require a prescription?
Because they can be dangerous? I chose a chiropractic career specifically because it avoids artificial means of pain relief. Our Roseville chiropractic practice attracts health-conscious families that prefer a safe and natural solution. Ready to get started? Call our office today.
Why are chiropractors wary of the germ theory?
Louis Pasteur originated the idea that germs caused disease. Yet, on his deathbed he recanted, declaring, "It's not the seed, but the soil." Meaning, it's not the germ that causes disease, but the condition of the body that allows the germ to thrive. Chiropractic care in our Roseville office is designed to bolster your resistance so germs don't see you as a good host.
